Day 1- Building Drive for Searching

Every dog is different, but all dogs, in their own way can have drive for searching! Come explore how to get the most out of who your dog is and what brings out the best in them. This workshop is appropriate for dog on primary (treats or toy) or dogs on the target odors of birch, anise, and clove. We will work with different ways to reward, utilizing high placement to increase intensity for the search. All levels welcome.

Day 2- Training a Final Response

Does your dog find all the hides in record time, but you receive faults in your scores for your dog scratching at the hide? Sometimes an alternative behavior is the solution. In this workshop we will discuss ways to train a final response and also explore ways to modify the existing behavior of scratching or biting at the hide without a final response. (Handlers wanting to train a final response need to pre-train a behavior such as a sit or down on voice command from a distance of 12 feet prior to the workshop. Dogs need to be on odor (birch). Any experience level welcome.
